Virtual private networks use a public network, usually the internet, to connect remote users together. Here, we take a closer looks at VPNS and help you choose the right one for your needs.

  • I use ssh for my VPN (specifically, VX ConnectBot on Android to a Linux server). I set up the socks proxy and port forwards to access the services I need, while securely terminating on my server.

    A VPN that terminates on a server you don’t control doesn’t provide security, it just obscures your IP address.
