Twitter, which has over 300 million active users, initially confirmed that the website was inaccessible through a tweet.

It later posted an update via its Tumblr account, which stated: “Some users are currently experiencing problems accessing Twitter. We are aware of the issue and are working towards a resolution.”

It is unclear what caused the social network to go offline, with the tech company yet to comment on the matter.
